This is super late, but it’s time for an unboxing of Illumicrate’s September box! September’s month’s theme was Sinister Surroundings and was, as usual, packed full of gorgeous items! This month’s book was Deadly Education by Naomi Novik. Their edition came with blue sprayed edges, a quote on the spine, exclusive cover, and a bound-in author letter. I haven’t had the chance to read it yet, but there have been many reviews and articles highlighting the racist microaggressions in this book that I believe is important to mention and important for others to read first in order to be informed. Illumicrate’s statement can be found here.
As I may have mentioned here about a thousand times, I am a huge fan of Rosiethorns88 and could NOT wait to see what this month’s mug looked like! This month’s mug was based on Uprooted by Naomi Novik. It has gorgeous autumn colours and so many little details. You can see the full papercraft here. Another stunning item was this Kingdom of Souls woodmark designed by Linnea. It’s too pretty to use!
Next up is an item I totally squeeled over: an officially-licensed Ninth House pouch designed by Forensics and Flowers. It is absolutely gorgeous and will definitely be used often when it’s safe to travel again. There was also a pillowcase, which was the only item I felt meh about (but probably because I didn’t really enjoy the book) is a Caraval pillowcase designed by Sally Pham.
This month’s pin matched the graduation gates in Deadly Education and was designed by Stacey McEvoy-Caunt.
Finally, I forgot to take a photo of it, so here is a close up of Thor wearing it: A Howler necklace designed by No0ndesigns. Doesn’t he just rock it?
